System-Level Simulation for Land Mobile Satellite Services

This preliminary study describes the application of a link-level modelling to the performance analysis of a typical land mobile satellite user link. The approach is based on a physical-statistical model and integrates a new point of view differentiating the temporal availability and the spatial coverage. The physical nature of the method highlights the role of the most preponderant parameters.
